About Homeopathy
Homeopathy was first established in Britain over 200 years ago by a German Doctor, Samuel Hahnemann. It is presently recognised as one of the many Complementary and Alternative Medicines in use today. The fundamental basis of homeopathy is that each individual is treated as a whole, with every aspect of them - physical and emotional - being taken into account when selecting a remedy. Both acute and chronic complaints can benefit from homeopathy as a Homeopath will focus on addressing the source of the complaint, rather than just the symptoms. Homeopathic medicine is very subtle and works by strengthening the organs and vitality of the patient to bring the immune system into balance and restore healing.
The basic principle of Homeopathy is to treat 'like with like'. This means treating a patient's symptoms with minute amounts of a substance that would cause similar symptoms in a healthy person. A good example of this is the remedy Onion (Allium Cepa) which may be used to treat the symptoms of a cold such as a runny nose and watering eyes. Homeopathic remedies are made from many different substances including flowers, plants, minerals and metals and remedies are usually given in the form of tablets or drops.
Homeopathy may help individuals experiencing the following conditions by placing emphasis on you as an individual rather than your specific complaint. This means addressing the physical and emotional changes experienced during ill health that are unique to each of us.
